Matthew 27:1-2, 11-26

Jesus has been arrested and has gone through illegal trials before the Jewish Sanhedrin under the cover of darkness.

Then he is handed over to the Roman governor to be tried as an insurrectionist.

In comes a character who actually is guilty of insurrection. This character does nothing and says nothing - and yet every single gospel writer (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) felt it necessary to tell their readers about him.

He is a reminder of what Jesus has done for all of us.

If only we'd see it.
