The disciples were caught arguing over who would be the greatest in Jesus' coming kingdom. Jesus responds to them by saying that only those who take the lowly position of a child would enter the kingdom of heaven.
In a culture of trying to be the best, trying to outdo others, trying to stand out - Jesus says there is greater joy and peace in recognizing our insignificance.
