Proverbs 26: It Might Actually Be You
1As charcoal to embers and as wood to fire, so is a quarrelsome person for kindling strife. - Proverbs 26:201
If you are in constant conflict with people, if you regularly find yourself in the middle of some kind of drama, there is a chance that there is some kind of strategic spiriual attack on your life.
But there is also a good chance that you are a quarrelsome person who keeps the fire going.
Even if it's always other people who start the issues with you (unlikely but let's grant that premise for the sake of argument), if you can't let things go and if you always have to have the last word or get your point across or make sure nobody takes advantage of you - then you are probably the quarrelsome person this proverb warns us not to be.
Ask yourself the honest question: "Even if I don't start it, do I have a tendency to keep drama going?"
Better yet --- though certainly more risky -- ask someone close to you: "Am I a quarrelsome person?"
If the answer is yes, that's okay. Jesus forgives you and Jesus is committed to growing you.
But you have to be honest with yourself.
