Shame is the painful feeling of humiliation or distress caused by falling short of how we want others to see ourselves.
When the man and woman rebelled against God in Genesis 3, they felt shame. Their response to that shame caused more disconnection from God and each other.
We tend to still have the same response. But God has another way of dealing with our shame.
