Worry

“Rehearsing your troubles results in experiencing them many times, whereas, you are meant to go through them only when they actually occur.” Sarah Young

Are you like Martha in Luke 10; always going and going; always doing and doing; always worrying and worrying? Do you try to control everything in your life and then when things get out of control you try to control even harder? Doesn’t it seem like the more we try to control things the harder it makes life? You begin to stress and worry and then your mind takes over. You your words and reactions begin to be harsh and excessive. We begin to talk to ourselves about our worry and take care of the situation ourselves. But the reality is that we need to talk to Jesus about our situation. Jesus wants us and invites us to come to Him and talk to Him and get our rest from Him (Matthew 11:28).

When Martha worried about all the preparation of dinner that needed to be done and how her sister Mary wasn’t helping it changed nothing, except her heart. When we worry it doesn’t change our problems. Worry doesn’t bring your unsaved child to Jesus. Worry doesn’t find that new job, pay the bills or get the twenty tasks of the day done. WORRY CHANGES NOTHING!!!

Worry does nothing but open a door for the enemy to rob you (John 10:10). He will rob you of your peace and rest. Worry robs us of our physical and mental health and the health of our relationships with those around us and especially with God. Worry steals our confidence in God. It steals the confidence that God is beside us, that He cares, and that He is in control.

When life gets stressful; when our plates are full we need to be more like Mary. We need to sit at Jesus’ feet and listen. We need to choose what is better and not let the enemy take our peace and confidence in Lord away. Take the enemy’s authority away and praise God through your troubles and stress. Be quiet and listen for the Lord and trust Him. Aren’t you more worthy than the birds and the fields? (Matthew 6).
