Advent: Day 7

1

“But the gift is not like the trespass. For if by the one man’s trespass the many died, how much more have the grace of God and the gift overflowed to the many by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ.” Romans 5: 15

As I was reading Romans 5, I realized that I am the one that received a gift on the day of Christ’s birth. It is an unimaginable gift of love, sacrifice, obedience that came through one man.
Sin and death entered the world through one man and this sin and death spread to each of us. Through one man’s trespass, there is condemnation for us all. Through one man’s disobedience, we were all made sinners. Through one man, death came to all.

But through the grace of God we all can receive a gift through one man. It is through one man we can find life. Through one man’s obedience righteousness is found. Through one man we find life-giving justification for all. Through one man we can find peace and grace. Through one man’s sacrifice, we are redeemed.

Because of God’s grace and love for me, he gave me the gift of this one man, Jesus. Just as through one man’s sin and death came for me, it is through one man that I can have the gift of life, justification, righteousness, and peace. When I think of the obedient sacrifice Christ has made for me I am filled with such an overwhelming feeling of gratefulness and joy. Just by reaching out and accepting this gift from Jesus, I have accepted grace reigning in my life. We all can have this gift of grace and redemption. All we have to do is reach out and accept this gift that allows grace to reign in your life, this gift of one man, this gift of Christ Jesus.
