Advent: Day 5

“ For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and His gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ."

When I was a little girl, Christmas time, to me, truly was the most wonderful time of the year!
Each day I couldn’t wait to open up one of the “windows” on our Advent calendar, counting down the days leading up to that special day on December 25th! Even as a young child I believed that the birth of Jesus held a certain significance in our household. One of my sweetest memories was laying down underneath the tree, feeling the warmth of the colored lights and smelling the fresh pine needles while I played with the Manger Scene! I couldn’t help but wonder what it was like to actually have been present when Jesus was born !

I understood that He was God’s Son, sent to earth as a tiny baby just like the rest of us-but it wasn’t until years later that I came to understand the reason why! I knew that I needed Him desperately! When I took that step of faith and placed my trust in Him, my eyes were opened! The depth of my sin was revealed, but God’s wonderful grace and His gift of righteousness were bestowed upon me-along with the assurance of spending eternity with Him in Heaven forever!
Once again, as I prepare to celebrate the birth of the Messiah, I get to experience the joy and excitement of the Season through the eyes of my grandchildren! I am reminded that we, too, should prepare , not only to celebrate His birth, but also with joyful anticipation the triumphant return of our Savior, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

Amen ! Come, Lord Jesus!
