Advent: Day 23

The first Advent devotional I wrote about was the birth of Jesus - His first Coming. Humble, gentle, serving. In contrast, His second coming - His return to earth to reign completely as Sovereign King - is spoken of in greatest detail in Revelation 19:11-16, “I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. ‘He will rule them with an iron scepter.’ He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.”

No matter where you take a Biblical stand as to future times - pre-tribulation, mid-tribulation, post-tribulation times - we can all agree that Christ will come again to bind up Satan and all his influence on the earth - Hallelujah! His Second Coming will put an end to the tribulation and He will rule the over the Earth with justice, mercy and love!

That truth puts an urgency in my heart to reach as many souls I can before it's too late for them to join in this most incomprehensible and long-awaited event! I don't want to be complacent, lazy, distracted by the notions of the world...I want to be on alert for any guiding of the Holy Spirit to not miss a chance to speak the only name that saves...Jesus! His name carries all the power of the Triune God; so when He comes again, He is coming as the omnipotent Father, Son and Holy Spirit! I pray to be aware of the "ministries" where I can be the hands and feet of Christ - to not miss even one person who may be on the sidelines, but to whom God has sent me - ME - to speak the name of Jesus to!

When we (my family and teams) go to Romania, it is with a "mission" to reach orphans and impoverished gypsy villages with the cause of Christ. However, thru the years, what God has shown us is that the Romanian volunteers who translate for us, need Christ too! The person in the market from whom we buy our supplies needs Christ! The van drivers need Christ; the teachers need Christ; town officials who put up snares all along the way - yes, they need Christ also! So, we've become very aware and astute to keep reaching out all day long - we expend all our energy to reach as many as we can and we're wonderfully exhausted with the knowledge that, to the best of our intentions, all have had the opportunity to hear the Good News and receive Him!

I desire to be that way in Brick, NJ - the place God has deemed the best place for me to be! I want to not miss one person or chance to speak that beautiful name above all names - the name that breaks the chains that bind, who sets the captives free, who gives hope to the hopeless and who will come again as a Conquering King - Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!
