Advent: Day 18

1

Jesus came into the world as a demonstration of God’s Love.

1 John 4:10-11 This is love: not that we love God but that he loved us and sent his son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved is, we also ought to love one another.

Believing includes belonging- We are all called to belong, not just believe. We are created for community, fellowship, and formed for a family. None of us can fulfill Gods purposes by ourselves. It is important for us to remember that in Gods family we are all connected to every other believer, and we will belong to each other for eternity. The bible says, “In Crist we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others” (Romans 12:5)
God’s purposes for his church are identical to his five purposes for you. Worship helps you focus on God; fellowship helps you face life’s problems; discipleship helps fortify your faith; ministry helps you find your talents; power helps fulfill your mission. There is nothing else on earth like the church!

You don’t have to prove your worth – Everyone matters to God. We see in the life of Jesus he even loves the unlovely and those who may feel unlovable. The secret to self-esteem and confidence is to understand how much you matter to God. If God loves you and accepts you who cares what anyone else thinks. Because God loves us, there is no need to prove our self-worth. We don’t need props anymore to make us feel good about ourselves. You may not be able to understand it fully, but you can and should accept it and let it change your life: God loves you!
Human love wears out, there is a limit to human love. It dries up! That is why we have to have Gods love in our relationships. We should be asking God to help us to love others the way he loves us. God’s love never wears out, Gods love is patient, persistent, and persevering. It is great news that God has never, and will never give up on us! His love will last forever! God is love, and his love is given freely, it cannot be earned, and it is undeserved. Remember he will never love us any more or any less than he does today. Accept his love and spread his love this Advent season and every day.
