Exodus 17:8-16

God is a warrior, and since we are made in his image, he has wired us to engage in battle -- to stand up for what is right, to fight for justice, to defend our families against danger. But because of sin and pride and rebellion, what is wired by God gets distorted, twisted, neglected and misused.

We become bullies on one extreme, or complacent and passive on the other.....or sometimes we simply rush into what we think are the right battles and end up being completely off-base. This passage in Exodus is addressed especially to the men -- whether you are a father or not, maturing in years or just going through puberty.
