Exodus 1:8-22

We can choose to fear God, which appears risky, but leads to freedom. Or we can choose a life of self-preservation, which appears safe, but leads to the fear of everything else.

In this passage we see how the king of Egypt is afraid of losing his power, wealth and status in the world, and reacts by oppressing the people of Israel. But two Hebrew mid-wives, driven by a different kind of fear, show great courage.
