Mother's Day: Contentment in Quarantine

May 10, 2020 Series: Special Days + Events

One trauma chaplain defined chronic anxiety like this: “When you don’t get what you think you need that you don’t really need” (Steve Cuss).

It manifests in all different ways, but it comes upon us when we are not getting what we think we need. If you feel things are supposed to be a certain way, but they’re not, you will feel anxiety.

If you feel you need to get all your tasks done, but can’t because you’re house is crazy, youll be dealing with anxiety.

If you’re not getting a response from a friend and are left wondering if they still like you, accept you, respect you, and approve of you -- you’ll be anxious.

If you feel you need time with people, but are stuck at home alone, you’ll feel anxious.

If you feel you need time alone, but are stuck at home with a house full of people, you’ll feel anxiety.

If you feel you need to know your job is secure, but you’re living in uncertainty with your job right now, you’ll be anxious.

But then Scripture says the opposite is possible. It’s possible to actually be content when we don’t get what we think we need.

Listen to some moms as they share some insights about finding contentment while in quarantine.
