Awe - it’s a wow, an amazement. It's about being moved, having our attention captivated.
When we approach God, we tend to either be in awe of God...or in awe of ourselves.
If we have a big awe of God, then there is a blessed self-forgetfulness that happens in our souls.
But when we are ultra focused on ourselves -- whether it’s low self-esteem or high self-esteem -- and we’re always thinking about what others think of us, always tallying up our past performance, always wanting to make sure we come out looking right -- we will have a small AWE of God.
And that will affect how we pray, how we get along with others, and how free we feel from past shame & guilt.
